The Nagaon Unit of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has come down heavily against the Supreme Court’s decision to transfer the National Register of Citizens (NRC) state Coordinator Prateek Hajela to Madhya Pradesh.
It may be mentioned that on Friday, a Supreme Court bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi had issued an order to transfer state Coordinator Prateek Hajela to Madhya Pradesh. The move of the SC has been highly criticized by different students’ bodies, indigenous organizations, and the BJP- led state government.

Members of the AJYCP, Nagaon unit have also alleged that there is a "deep conspiracy" behind the transfer of Prateek Hajela. They also alleged that the Government is involved in Hajela's transfer.
They further added that after Hajela's transfer, whoever will be appointed as the state coordinator for the NRC, will take 2-3 years to understand the nitty gritties. Taking advantage of this, the central government will implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, they said.
The members mentioned that without giving details of the expenditure of Rs 1,600 in the name of NRC, Hajela will not be allowed to leave Assam.
