Tinsukia, July 30, 2019:

A hardcore Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isaak-Muivah) (NSCN-IM) cadre was apprehended in Tinsukia district of Assam on July 28.

Based on specific intel, personnel of the 9 no. Raj Rifles and Assam Police launched an operation nabbed the cadre from Assam-Arunachal border town Margherita's Namdang tea estate.

The apprehended cadre hails from Jhimsui village in Ukhrul district in Manipur. The cadre has been identified as Thangmeishu Kasak.

A .32 handgun and three magazines, as well as five rounds of live ammunition have been recovered from the cadre. Moreover, the authorities have also recovered cash amounting to Rs. 25,000 from the nabbed cadre.

“On the evening of July 27, Tinsukia district police with the help of Lekhapani based army units launched an operation based on specific intelligence inputs. Next morning, we captured the NSCN-IM cadre from an area close to Namdang tea estate under Margherita. Investigation is on, and we will take action in accordance with law,” said Tinsukia SP Siladitya Chetia.
