GUWAHATI: The Assam state unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Sunday said it will launch a statewide agitational programme against alleged corruption and unemployment under the BJP regime in Assam.

Announcing it, NSUI state president Krishanu Baruah today said a programme, christened as Chattra Hunkar (Students’ War Cry), will be launched from next week to expose the corruption and lack of employment creation and other shortcomings of the ruling government.

“Our national president Neeraj Kundan will visit here tomorrow and there we will chalk out a detailed programme of the proposed programme. More than 1000 NSUI workers will congregate at Manabendra Sarma Complex tomorrow to discuss the issues,” Baruah said here today.

“It is the primary objective of every Assamese individual to get rid of the misrule of the BJP in Assam. In the process, the students have a major role to play. For that we will take the true picture to the student community. We will hit the streets to protest the anti-people attitude of the BJP and its allies and against the unemployment problem in the state,” Baruah added.

He also assured that despite being a students’ organisation of a national political party (Congress), “we in NSUI Assam unit will remain regional in character and go with the sentiments of people of Assam”.
