DHUBRI: Police have arrested one person and recovered a huge quantity of illicit Pyeevon Spas contraband tablets in the Dhubri district of Assam.
The contraband tablets were being carried inside a Flipkart courier delivery bag in the New Ghat area of Dhubri, said police.
The accused peddler has been identified as Moghol Hussain, who is a resident of New Ghat that falls under Bazar Town Out Post, Dhubri.
Based on a tip-off, a team of Dhubri Police conducted an operation in the area today and recovered more than 25,000 illicit Pyeevon Spas contraband tablets.
According to the police, the accused have been supplying such addictive substances to the teenagers from various regions of the district's town, suburbs, and rural areas for quite some time now.
Partha Pratim Gogoi, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhubri Police Station, said that a case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and further investigation is underway.
