One injured in firing incident at birthday party in Ashirwaad apartment in Guwahati

In a freak and bizarre incident, one person got seriously injured in a firing incident in Guwahati on Friday noon. The incident took place at Ashirwaad incident at Chandmari area of Guwahati when a birthday party was going on.

One Mintoo Hazarika was seriously injured when one Kiran Bania fire at the residence of Damodar Deka. The injured have been immediately shifted to the GNRC hospital in a critical condition.  According to reports, Damodar Deka is an advocate by profession. The pistol belongs to one Lila Madhav Saikia and his friend Kiran Baniya opened fire with Saikia’s pistol.

The Chandmari police is trying to find out whether the pistol was a licensed one and ascertain the reason behind the incident. Investigation is on.

It may be mentioned that the Director General of Assam Police had recently stated that strict measures would be taken to curb the menace of illegal arms in the state. Today’s incident comes only after a few days of the top police official’s announcement.
