One lynched in Biswanatharrested

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 16, 2018:

In yet another incident of mob lynching in the State, one person died and three others sustained serious injuries when a group of people attacked them at Diplonga Tea Estate in Biswanath early on Thursday. The injured have been admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

According to reports, the villagers suspected the quartet to be cattle thieves as there have been incidents of cattle thefts in the area.

However, the four persons who were attacked were actually pig traders.

There was one more person – Papu Nayak – accompanying the quartet, who, however, went missing.

The five persons had reportedly gone to the area with money to purchase pigs.

So far no one has been arrested.

There have been several incidents of mob lynching in Assam over the past few years, mostly on suspicions of being child-lifters, witch, cattle thieves, etc.
