Guwahati (Assam), September 25, 2018:

Over 100 people from Assam were stranded in Himachal Pradesh for the past three days and reportedly starving following devastating floods and landslides in the hill state.

According to reports reaching here, the people – hailing from Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Bongaigaon and Nagaon districts – were workers engaged in a project of Gammon India Limited at Samba in Himachal. Sixty of the people are from Nagaon, 30 from Bongaigaon, 14 from Lakhimpur and five from Kokrajhar.

The reports said the people from Assam were suffering due to lack of food and drinking water. Several of them have reportedly fallen sick. So far, the rescuers could not reach them.

A stranded victim said food was not air-dropped by choppers as yet. He said they were on a higher ground and all roads connecting the area were flooded.

Several hundred students are stranded in a school and nobody could reach them as yet, the flood victim signed off.
