SILCHAR: Around 300 passengers who had landed at the Kumbhirgram airport here evaded the mandatory COVID-19 test by yelling at and dodging the authorities.

The district administration has stated that strict action would be taken against the offenders for violating the COVID-19 protocol and Disaster Management Act.

The authorities are now tracing the violators from the contact details they had submitted while booking their tickets.

As many as 690 passengers, who arrived at the airport, were listed for the mandatory COVID test.  Rapid antigen test (RAT) was done on 189 passengers and six of them tested COVID-19 positive, who were later sent for isolation and treatment.

However, the others managed to escape after shouting and screaming at the authorities and policemen stationed at the airport for the tests.
