Guwahati, October 22, 2019:

Over 75% of the electorate turned out to exercise their franchise in the 4 Constituencies of Assam -- Ratabari, Jania, Rangapara, and Sonari -- which went to the polls on Monday.

The average turnout figure in the four constituencies stood at 75.69% as of 7 pm.

As per reports, the elections went by peacefully with no incidents of violence.

The Constituency-wise polling percentage (till 7 pm) is as follows:

Jania: 79.08%

Rangapara: 77.80%

Ratabari: 74.37%

Sonari: 71.30%

The turnout in Sonari was likely affected by a huge storm that hit the region, forcing some of the voters to stay at home.

Moreover, some election glitches were also reported. Polling started at 7 am, and voters were seen queuing outside the booths to cast their franchise since early in the morning.
