Padman motivates NGO to create awareness among girls in Assam

Guwahati, February 25, 2018:

After Padman being praised in Assam Assembly and MLAs seeking Padman legacy for the state, an NGO named NEEDS has taken an initiative to create awareness among girls in villages.

NEEDS has begun an awareness campaign in Koronga School of Jorhat and distributed sanitary napkins to the young girls.

In a survey carried by the NGO, it was found that only 18 percent of girls are aware of the use of sanitary napkins and 12 percent use it. The NGO got a positive response from the girls as they have agreed to use sanitary napkins.

The NGO also lamented that around 99 percent women are still not aware of the use of sanitary napkins and urged the government and other NGOs to take the initiative of creating awareness for the use of sanitary napkins.
