After faint information of Assamese script failing to find a separate chart in the Unicode, ULFA(I) chief Paresh Baruah takes to media to rebuke the matter. A meeting was held by the joint technical committee of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) in London regarding the recognition of the independence of the Assamese script and its Unicode standard. In the meeting, the ISO and the Unicode Consortium have recognized the independence of the Assamese script. A delegation of three was send to attend the meeting namely Durlav Gogoi, Satyakam Phukan, Bhaskarjyoti Sarms. However, it was decided that there would no more changes in the code chart for Bengali and Assamese scripts, except some changes in the name and technicalities.
ULFA(I) chief Paresh Baruah demands for the the independent recognition of the Assamese script at the Unicode Standards. He warns that if the representatives consent to the agreement the situation might worsen. He expresses his grievances towards Dhrubojyoti Borah saying that he must know that Assamese is an independent language. He also stated that it was nothing but a conspiracy hatched and the representatives just exhibited a show of gimmickry at the meeting in London.Copyright©2024 Living Media India Limited.
