GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking on the Darrang firing incident said that the government has an intelligence report that certain people collected Rs 28 lakhs during last 3 months, saying that there'll be no eviction. Sarma further stated that When they couldn't resist eviction, they mobilised public & created havoc.

Assam CM said, “We have the names of 6 persons. Prior to the day of incident, PFI visited the site in the name of carrying food items to evicted families. Various evidence are now emerging, implicating certain people, including a lecturer.”

Earlier, Himanta Biswa informed that evictions were done as per their consent. He said, “I had told them about evictions and that they should ensure no resistance, which they promised. I explained same thing to Congress. They agreed with me & appreciated the decision. They created mayhem the next day.”

The Assam Government on Thursday decided to institute a judicial inquiry into the Dhalpur firing incident which claimed lives of two civilians and injured several including police personnel.

According to an official release, the inquiry would be conducted under the chairmanship of a retired judge of Gauhati High Court.

Continuing the eviction process, the Assam government today went for eviction in Dhalpur are of Sipajhar where they met with severe protest from the locals over the eviction which led to a clash between the police and the locals.
