Three-time former Chief Minister of Assam, and senior leader of the Congress party, Tarun Gogoi, lashing out at the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government, termed it as a "dictatorship" and compared its ideology of Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Gogoi said, "The government at the center has been undemocratically forcing the CAA in the state of Assam which is a clear depiction of dictatorship. People’s concern is not taken into account, only Modi’s directions are being followed. "

Drawing parallels between the 'father of Pakistan' Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gogoi said, "The Modi led government is following Jinnah’s ideology to rule over the people. The difference is Jinnah did it for Islam, and they are doing it for Hindutva ideology."
The former Chief Minister also launched into a tirade against the sitting-CM, Sarbananda Sonowal. "The Modi government is responsible for all the unrest in the country. Northeast have been made to face the impact that would lead to a major threat to our “Jati, mati and bheti”, adding, "During 2019, nobody recognized Sarbananda’s real face but by the end of the year, his vindictive face have been revealed."
The former CM, refuting the allegations against the Congress of harboring "illegal" migrants, slammed the Sonowal-Government instead of bringing in more migrants.
However, Gogoi also recalled the good events of the year in Assam like Bhupen Hazarika being conferred with the 'Bharat Ratna', Hima Das’s achievements, and Ranjan Gogoi's appointed as the CJI.
"I’m proud that the people of assam have shown it to the rest of the world that we are proud of our language and we will not be defeated by anyone. No ministry can force anything against our will", Gogoi said.
