KOKRAJHAR: Indian prime minister Narendra Modi while thundering against the Congress party at a massive public rally in the Bodoland Territorial Region's Kokrajhar, professed a new mantra for the sustained development of the strife-torn region.

"During Congress' long tenure, Assam was beset with a bomb, guns, and blockade culture. However, the NDA gave Assam peace and prosperity," the prime minister said at a rally moments earlier.

Urging the people to recall that it was the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government that had given , Modi further pointed out that the current NDA government has facilitated the signing of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Accord.

"Today, we have development in the BTR and we have adopted the mantra of peace, progress, and protection for the sustained progress of Bodoland," he added.

Later, Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted a clip of Modi saying those words along with the caption, "Congress's long rule choked Assam with bombs and blockades while NDA has brought peace here. Atal Ji's govt formed the BTC and now our Govt has signed the historic Bodo Peace Accord. Peace, progress and protection is our mantra: PM Narendra Modi Ji in Kokrajhar."

It needs mention here that the prime minister landed in Kokrajhar to campaign for the NDA alliance ahead of the third and final phase of the elections.

The police have recovered arms and ammunition including three AK 56, three AK 56 magazines, and 157 rounds of bullets in the Gossaigaon area of Kokrajhar on Monday.

"During a search operation, we have seized three AK 56 rifles, magazines of three AK 56, and 157 rounds of bullets. Probe on," the police said.
