POLICE DETAINS 25 SUSPECTED BANGLADESHIS, RELEASES WITHIN 45 MINUTES AFTER VERIFICATION

Guwahati, October 26, 2018:

The police on Friday detained 25 suspected Bangladeshis from Dikar Gate in Tinsukia district of Assam.

Members of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYCP) and Motok Students Union (MSU) informed the Bordumsa police after the suspected Bangladeshis could not produce any valid documents on being questioned.

Speaking to InsideNe, Tinsukia Superintendent of Police Mugdhajyoti Mahanta said that the suspects were let off within 45 minutes after proper verification. He added that the suspects hailed from different parts of Assam and had travelled all the way to Tinsukia in search of livelihood.
