MORIGAON: Morigaon Police today apprehended a suspected arms smuggler from Hachara market under Bhelowguti police station of the district.
Morigaon superintendent of police Nanda Singh Borkala said, "based on specific informations, we carried out a raid near Hachara market and apprehended one person. He has been identified as Sahabuddin, 27, son of Taher Ali of Gagolmari under Mayong police station."
"A .32 bore made in England pistol, body No. 7118, and magazine have been recovered from his possession. Further interrogation is on," Singh added.

Another police source said Sahabuddin has been involved in smuggling of arms from Dimapur to Assam and is also suspected to be involved in smuggling of stolen vehicles.
The sources said the operation was launched on the basis information provided by Kolkata-based military intelligence.
