HAFLONG: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal today reached Dima Hasao district to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Nandita Garlosa.

Sonowal, during his address, reminded the people of the 'developmental schemes' undertaken by prime minister Narendra Modi across India, especially in the Northeast.

"Since coming to power, Modi paid attention to all parts of the country. But most of all, he gave importance to Assam and the Northeast. To enable Assam and the Northeast to tap into its rich bounty of resources and to take this region forward, he has done a lot. Thanks to the developmental initiatives undertaken by the PM Modi-led government, we are also starting to move ahead by leaps and bounds," Sonowal said.

The incumbent chief minister argued that since his own state government has undertaken "developmental works", people should vote for the BJP in large numbers. "Thanks to the job in the last 5 years, Dima Hasao is also making its mark in Assam which is a significant step," he said.

He also said that many youths from the Dima Hasao region have been provided with government jobs through legal means and pointed to many selections in the Assam State Public Commission (APSC) recruitment process from the district in recent times. "We have also set up training centres....such as the ACS training Centre in Umrangso and the police academy...which will give a different identity to Dima Hasao," he added.

Urging the voters to cast their ballots for Nandita Garlosa, Sonowal promised, "If you elect her to power, Nandita will work tirelessly for your uplift."

Apart from Sonowal, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) chief Debolal Gorlosa, Nandita Garlosa, BJP spokesperson Lakhya Konwar, among others, were present in today's rally.
