Preparations on for 45th Karbi Youth Festival in Diphu

Guwahati, February 5, 2019:

InsideNE has some great news for the people of Northeast India! The 45^th edition of the Karbi Youth Festival is just around the corner and preparations to host the festival are on in full swing. The festival is held annually by the Karbi Cultural Society at Taralanso in Diphu from February 14-19.

Preparation to host the festival is on in full-swing by the different sub-committees attached to the organization process. The authorities are also working day in and day out to complete all the construction works before the commencement of the festival.

The Inside NE reporter, while visiting the site, saw that almost 70% of the construction process is complete. During this year’s festival, the central attraction will be ‘nonthengpi’ (traditional golden earring worn by Karbi women). Construction of the ‘Semson sing Ingti open stage’ and the ‘Market Committee’ has been nearly completed.

Chandra sing Kro, Karbi Cultural Society President, said: “Till now, we have constructed 24 KCS zonal camps permanently. Unlike the previous years’, this time we will give more importance to the lodging facilities to campers and participants coming for the festival.

The construction work of a new green room at ‘Sing Mirjeng’ stage has been completed and a departmental exhibition site and construction are seen to be in progress.
