GUWAHATI: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who has reached Assam on a 2-day visit to join the ongoing electioneering, has now become a hot topic of discussion for something totally unrelated to politics.

Gandhi, who is interacting with Assam's denizens to feel the proverbial "pulse" ahead of the all-important polls, was recently witnessed sashaying with party workers to the infectious tunes of jhumur dance of the tea tribe community in Lakhimpur. The video, naturally, has piqued the netizens' interest.

Assam Congress on Facebook today posted a 19-second-long clip in which the 49-year-old Vadra can be seen shaking a leg with some local tea tribe women.

Although Vadra did not conform to the state government's directive to wear masks and maintain 6-feet social distancing to keep the COVID-19 at bay, her energetic dance moves have earned the praise of netizens.

"Very good job Congress zindabad," wrote a user on Facebook, commenting on the video.

"Priyanka Gandhi Chief Minister Of Utter Pradesh 2022," another social media user commented wistfully.

The video, which was uploaded earlier today, has racked up an impressive number of 'likes' and 'shares.'

It needs mention here that Gandhi is slated to visit North Lakhimpur and Biswanath districts, where she will participate in road shows and rallies to help the Congress’ cause.

On Friday last, the Election Commission of India announced that Assam will go to Assembly elections in three phases beginning March 27.

The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
