Prohibitory orders in Silchar, TMC delegates not to be allowed entry

Silchar (Assam), 2 Aug 2018:

A sixt-member delegation of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is reaching at Kumbhirgram airport here at around 2 pm on Thursday.

The delegation comprising MPs and MLAs will include Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Ratna De Nag, Nadimul Haque, Arpita Ghosh and Mamata Thakur

The delegation is arriving on a two-day trip to assess the ground situation in Assam in the backdrop of publication of the complete NRC draft, in which more than 40 lakh people have been left.

However, not wanting to take any chances, the Cachar district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC.

And sources have said that the TMC leaders are unlikely to be allowed to come out of the airport and proceed towards the town. Instead, they will be sent back by another flight, the sources added.
