Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Finance Minister and NED-convenor, has blasted the “black flag protestors” at every opportunity and also derided the media for covering them. But in spite of surrounding his convoy with bike rallies of BJP supporters to discourage the protests, the Minister has hardly been able to avoid the wrath of protestors.
This time, Biswa Sarma was confronted by representatives of the AJYCP and AASU at Dhekiajuli in Assam while he was on his way to attend an extended executive meeting of the BJP.

This continues the trend of waving black clothes at BJP Ministers by the people of Assam which started after the ruling party announced its intention to implement the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016. The Government has started taking severe measures to curb these protests as black clothes are now banned at Assam Secretariat. People were also stopped from wearing black clothes within the Republic Day parade grounds in Guwahati during celebrations on January 26.
In the most shocking incident of ‘black phobia’ of the BJP, a one-year old child was barred from attending a CM Sonowal even in Assam’s Bihali because he was wearing a black jacket.
