He added that the goals are reservation of land, government jobs, trade licences etc only for the people who are citizens of Assam in 1951 and their progeny. The second one is the re-verification of those included in the NRC final draft in the border and migrant dominated districts and the third one is that no foreigners to be thrust upon Assam through the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 or any other measure.
He added that the above three measures adopted collectively will ensure that indigenous do not become a minority.
“We have already given a timeline until January 31, 2019 for fulfillment of the above 3 demands and such measures to be taken prior to the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 as earlier to election of 2014 and 2016 have been on the basis of promises to protect indigenous identity but all actions of the Government being anti-indigenous”, he added.
He informed that on December 8, representative of indigenous people from neighbouring districts of Morigaon, Kamrup ®, Darrang, Nalbari, Barpeta etc, will congregate and share their experience as to how they have been displaced by the infiltrators and turned into refugees in their own homeland.
