Guwahati, February 11, 2019:

Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who has often accused the Prime Minister of being a “liar” and “thief”, alleged that PM Modi lies wherever he goes, be it in Andhra Pradesh or the North Eastern part of India. Gandhi has been highly critical of the Prime Minister’s policies in the Northeast, especially in regards to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and recently met a delegation from the Northeast to discuss the issue.

Gandhi made this accusation at Andhra Bhawan in New Delhi where Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday sat on a day-long fast, demanding special status for the state. Stating he stood with the people of Andhra Pradesh regarding the grant of 'special state' status, Gandhi said: “Mr. Modi, wherever he goes, he lies. He goes to Andhra, he lies, he goes to the Northeast, he lies.”

A day-long protest for justice was launched by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief to plead the Centre to fulfill promises they had made when Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. During his symbolic protest, Naidu alleged that the Narendra Modi Government has been delaying the fulfillment of the promise of special state status for Andhra Pradesh made to them during the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

National Conference's Farooq Abdullah and Nationalist Congress Party's Majeed Memon also joined Naidu's protest.
