SILCHAR: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had to cancel his Silchar visit today due to inclement weather.
Hovering over Silchar for some time, the aircraft the senior Congress leader was onboard, could not land at Kumbhirgram airport in Silchar due to incessant rain and returned to Guwahati. The weather improved later on.
Gandhi was scheduled to hold an interaction with women at India Club ground here and then fly to Haflong in Dima Hasao district and Bokajan in Karbi Anglong district to address two election rallies.
Campaign for the second phase of polling in Assam is scheduled to end this evening. The Barak Valley and parts of Brahmaputra Valley are scheduled to go to polls on Thursday.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal is also in the Barak Valley campaigning for BJP candidates on the last day of campaign.
