Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday visited the house of Dipanjal Das at Chaygaon, who is one of the 5 martyrs of the movement against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Assam.
Alongwith senior Congress leaders, Gandhi visited the residence of the martyr, who died after he was shot in Guwahati. Later, visuals show that the mother of the victim broke down into sobs, upon which, Rahul lent her his shoulder to cry upon.
Earlier, Gandhi had come out firing salvos at the Narendra Modi led BJP Government for exercising brute force on the anti-CAA protesters.

During a Congress rally in Guwahati, Gandhi had thundered, "Wherever the BJP goes, they spread hatred. Protests are on in Assam -- other states are protesting -- why shoot? Why kill?", Rahul demanded.
"The voices of the people are being trampled upon by the BJP. They want to vanquish the youths. That is fundamentally wrong. Love can solve everything.." Rahul voiced.
It may be mentioned here that earlier, Rahul had also visited the residence of another matryr of the movement, Sam Stefford.

Sam, a budding musician, succumbed to bullet injuries he had sustained during police firing at Hatigaon after he had gone to attend an anti-CAA protest spearheaded by Assam icon Zubeen Garg. The boy was rushed to the Guwahati Medical College & Hospital, where efforts to save him were in vain.
It may be recalled that Gandhi's visit comes amid the furor over the Citizenship Amendment Act in the wake of its passage in the Parliament. The protests against the Bill initially began in Assam, and soon spread like a wildfire to all corners of the nation.
