GUWAHATI: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has slammed Home Minister Amit Shah over the ongoing border dispute between two Indian states of northeast - Assam and Mizoram - and named it a 'failure' on the Government's part.
Gandhi has taken to Twitter and wrote, "HM has failed the country yet again by sowing hatred and distrust into the lives of people. India is now reaping its dreadful consequences."
Gandhi has also condoled the death of the deceased in firing.

Notably, the violence occurred less than a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s 2-day visit to the region. Shah chaired a meeting in Shillong on July 24 with the chief ministers and chief secretaries of all eight northeastern states to discuss the border issues.
As many as five Assam Police Officials and one civilian have succumbed to bullet injury fired from the Mizoram side.
Cachar Superintendent of Police Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant has also sustained a bullet injury and is soon to be shifted to a Mumbai hospital for treatment.
More than 60 persons were injured in the violence from Assam's side.
As per sources, five persons have been admitted to Silchar Medical College & Hospital in a very critical condition.
No casualties have been reported from the Mizoram's side so far.
