A two-hour-long shower on Friday morning caused an artificial flood in Guwahati throwing life out of gear.
Water-logging, triggered by the rains, caused serious traffic snarls on all the major roads in the city. Vehicles were seen stranded in long queues after getting stuck in traffic jam. According to reports, the engines of some vehicles developed technical snag due to the flood.
The affected areas were GS Road, Zoo Road, Chandmari, MLAs’ Hostel, Beltola, Six Mile, Panjabari, Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Ambari etc.
In Jorabat on the outskirts of the city on Assam-Meghalaya border, hundreds of vehicles and commuters were stranded in the flood. A woman died in an incident of landslide in the area on Thursday night.
