Former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has said that former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi may be the chief ministerial candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2021 state assembly polls. Tarun Gogoi claimed that his sources has hinted that Ranjan Gogoi’s name is in the BJP’s list for the top post.
Gogoi opined that if Ranjan Gogoi could be nominated to Rajya Sabha by the BJP, he might be projected as the CM candidate as well. Gogoi said that the saffron party is pleased with Ranjan Gogoi over the Ram Mandir judgement.
The seasoned politician also said that he is not going to be Congress’s chief ministerial candidate in the ensuing 2021 Assam assembly polls. Gogoi said that he would not opt for the top post and instead would like to be a guiding force for his party. He said a common candidate from the alliance should be the chief ministerial candidate.
It may be mentioned that Gogoi has been trying to forge an alliance with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and other regional parties to dethrone the BJP from power.
