After claims by former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi that former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi will be the chief ministerial candidate in the ensuing 2021 Assam assembly elections, the later clarified that he is not the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) CM candidate.
Earlier on Saturday, Tarun Gogoi had claimed that the former CJI may be the chief ministerial candidate for BJP in 2021 Assam assembly elections. However, Ranjan Gogoi in an interview to a media house sharply rejected Tarun Gogoi’s claims terming it as baseless.
Ranjan Gogoi also said that his nomination to Rajya Sabha is not his entrance to active politics.
“It is unfortunate that people do not understand the difference between a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha and a nominee of a political party elected to the House. I have consciously chosen to be a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha because it gives me the opportunity to air my views on issues of interest to me while retaining my independence does not make me a politician, said Ranjan Gogoi.”
