Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday revealed his political strategy which is to remove All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal from Assam’s political scenario.
Gogoi alleged the BJP and the AIUDF had ruined the state’s political environment.
“After losing in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, the BJP’s popularity has declined in India. Assam’s corrupt leaders cannot hold the BJP in the state,” Gogoi told reporters at a press conference.
The Congress cannot be removed from India and anyone who thinks it is possible is living in fool’s paradise, he said. Commenting on the poor performance of the Congress in the panchayat elections in constituencies of party stalwarts including Rockybul Hussain, Gogoi said it was due to dismal campaigning.
He rubbished reports that the Congress had won the seats on the back of Muslim votes. He said the party had also won in Hindu-populated areas such as Sivasagar and Jorhat.
