GUWAHATI: 'Porichay', an Assamese film helmed by Rajib Borthakur, has brought more laurels to the state as it was honored with 3 awards at the 13th Jaipur International Film Festival held in the pink city from January 15-19.
The film won ‘Best women film’, ‘Yellow rose’ (For upcoming film with world premiere), and ‘Special jury Mention’ awards at the film festival Porichoy's win in the 3 categories is a major feat as 266 films from 44 countries were screened at the prestigious film festival.

The film, produced by woman entrepreneur Riniki Bhuyan under the banner of 'Pride East Entertainment', a renowned film and media company based in Assam, has made a mark in an internationally-reputed film festival at a time when the industry has been severely crippled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
'Porichay' is about the 10-year-long struggle of a woman and how she overcomes it. The film was shot in scenic locations at Majuli -- the largest inhabited river island in the world -- by noted cinematographer Pranab Bora. The film stars noted actors from Assam such as Utpal Das, Jyupitora Bhuyan, Bhaskar Bora, and Nikumoni Boruah.
