Residents of Guwahati have paid Rs 13 lakh as fine for not wearing face masks. Despite requests by the state government, people in Guwahati have defied the COVID-19 protocol including wearing of masks. Rs 13 lakh have been realized as fine from June 30 till date.

It may be mentioned that Guwahati’s COVID-19 scene has become grim with every passing day. It has been increasing at a rapid pace, Despite this people are seen without wearing face masks and maintaining social distance.

It needs mention that Assam registered 2785 cases in the last 24 hours on Monday. The state now has a positivity rate of 7.21%. Currently, the state has 28798 active cases.

Most of the cases are from Kamrup (Metro) with 675 cases, 220 in Dibrugarh, 165 in Jorhat and 126 in Lakhimpur.

Assam Health & family Welfare Minister informed, “Alert ~  2785 #COVID cases detected today out of 38611 tests done in last 24 hours. State’s Positivity Rate is 7.21 percent.

Himanta Biswa Sarma furthered informed that Assam has completed 25 lacs test in its fight against COVID-19. Tests per million are now 72987.
