Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and its ally Asom Gana Parishad’s (AGP) Birendra Prasad Baishya filed their nomination to contest for the two Rajya Sabha seats in the upcoming election.

The Rajya Sabha election will be held on June 7.
Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Birendra Prasad Baishya submitted their nomination in presence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, state BJP president Ranjit Dass, AGP chief Atul Bora, and other top leaders of both the parties.
The nominations were filed at around 12 noon today.
It is to be mentioned that there had been speculation that Ram Vilas Paswan or some other Union Minister might contest the Rajya Sabha election from Assam. However, these rumors were put to rest by Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who stated that both the seats will be contested by the local Assamese in the recent past.
