PRAYAGRAJ: An application has been filed under the Right to Information Act (RTI) seeking detailed information about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim of his arrest and imprisonment for supporting Bangladesh's independence.
Krishna Mohan Panday, an advocate of the Allahabad High Court, has filed an RTI seeking details of prime minister Narendra Modi's arrest while performing Satyagraha for the emancipation of Bangladesh.
"This is regarding claim made by PM Modi on his official visit to Bangladesh in the date cf 26 March 2021. PM Modi claimed that he had the opportunity to go to jail in age of abcut 20-22years, for Satyagraha in the freedom struggle of Bangladesh," the Prayagraj-based advocate wrote in his RTI addressed Public Information Officer of the Prime Minister's office.

He went on to ask in which charges PM Modi was arrested in Satyagraha for the freedom struggle of Bangladesh, also seeking a certified FIR copy. He also sought to know PM Modi arrested and kept in which jail of India and how many days he spent in gaol.
Attending the golden jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh's independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu, Modi yesterday said he and many of his colleagues observed 'satyagraha' for the freedom of the people of Bangladesh.
"I was arrested and imprisoned for supporting Bangladesh's independence," Modi said.
Earlier, Saral Patel, national convener, social media department of Indian National Congress (INC), also filed the RTI application with the Public Information Officer of the Indian Prime Minister's Office yesterday.
