Jayanta Baruah, owner of Sadin-Pratidin group stood firmly behind the supporters of the bandh held in protest of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 and walked from his residence to the office as a sign of protest. A staunch supporter of the Assamese jati and its sentiments, Baruah was a one of the leaders of the Yuva Chatra Parishad during the Assamese agitation against Bangladeshi invasion. During threats to the identity of the Assamese jati, Baruah has always stood by the side of the people.
Due to siding with the people on such issues, he has also come under fire from government and bureaucracy but it has not deterred him from standing side-by-side with his people.
