GUWAHATI: Assam boy Samir Banerjee, who is a 17-year-old Indian-origin tennis player from New Jersey, USA, made his dream come true by winning the Wimbledon 2021 Boy's Singles title after defeating his American adversary Victor Livov in straight sets.
Samir defeated Livov 7-5, 6-3 in under 1 hour 21 minutes.
Banerjee only dropped three sets in his past five matches on his way to the final.
He didn't let any of the games last longer than an hour and 45 minutes. Banerjee defeated Poland's 12th seed Maks Kasnikowski 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 in his first-round match. Banerjee faced Slovakia's Peter Benjamin Privara in the second round, which he won 6-1, 5-6, 6-1.
