GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) today cleared that veteran leader Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya will remain with the students’ organisation as its chief adviser.
A decision in this regard was taken at the executive committee meeting of AASU at Gauhati University here.
The AASU also appointed Uddipta Jyoti Gogoi and Prakash Chandra Das as its two other advisers.

The AASU had recently barred Bhattacharya, who had quit the organisation during its last conference at Duliajan, from making any statement on its behalf. New general secretary of the organisation Shankar Jyoti Baruah had issued the statement at Tezpur in January that left many eyebrows raised.
Baruah had then stated that the executive committee would decide Bhattacharya’s position in the organisation in its meeting.
