All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) chief advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya in a startling revelation on Sunday said that he will take retirement from the students’ body. Talking to reporters, the senior students’ leader said that he will announce his retirement during the Duliajan convention of the AASU.

Bhattacharya said that he has been planning to retire from the AASU for quiet sometime now and he had announced it during the Moran convention but he was not allowed by his comrades. He said that he is unwell for quiet sometime now and doctors have advised him rest.

Bhattacharya reiterated that though he would leave the organization he will continue working for it till his last breath. He added that he will never step into politics and being in politics, one cannot serve for the cause of the students.

Earlier, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MLA Satyabrata Kalita had appealed Bhattacharya to join AGP. Amid reports that Bhattacharya has been alienated by the AASU leadership, Kalita opined that the former should join active politics.
