SC to extend deadline of claims and objectives of NRC

Guwahati, December 11, 2018:

The Assam government hasapproached the Supreme Court for extension of the deadline for claims and objections of National Register of Citizens (NRC) beyond December 15.

Reportedly, Chief Justice of

India Ranjan Gogoi assured that the court will consider their request as only 10

lakh people  has submitted their claims

and objectives till date.

It may be mentioned that the

SC has listed ten documents to be submitted to prove their citizenship.

However, on November 1, the court added five more documents to the list that includes

the 1951 NRC, electoral roll up to March 24, 1971 and ration card.
