Assam: 54-year-old Govt school teacher arrested for alleged rape of minor student

DHUBRI: A 10-year-old girl from a religious minority community has been allegedly raped by a 54-year-old school teacher in Dhubri district of Assam.

The incident took place in Baniamari Part-V, Piajbari village located in the Gauripur police station area of Dhubri district.

According to police, the victim is a 10-year-old student of class V at Piajbari ME School.

The accused has been identified as Hashem Ali, who is a teacher at the same school.

It has been alleged that Ali lured the girl with chocolate and eventually managed to get her inside his home, where he forcibly raped the minor.

The incident comes to light after the girl's parents find her in an uncomfortable circumstance in the house of the accused person. The girl subsequently told her parents about the incident.

The accused have also allegedly threatened the victims' family members if they report the incident to anyone.

However, after learning about the incident, the victim's mother filed a police report against the accused at the Gauripur police station.

Police have registered a case against Hashem Ali under IPC Section 342, 376 AB and 511 and Section 8 of RW Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
