Hailakandi, August 6, 2019:

The Hailakandi district administration imposed restrictions in the entire district under Section 144 CrPC (curfew) late on Monday evening.

In an order issued to this effect, District Magistrate, Keerthi Jalli said following reports of some elements and groups trying to disturb the prevailing peace in the district, the administration have decided to promulgate Section 144 of the CrPC (curfew) with immediate effect.

The order has also banned assembling of five or more persons in public places, carrying of weapons or fire arms, holding any kind of public meeting or rally until the order is withdrawn.

Any violation of the order will result in prosecution as per provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the order stated.
