Dhubri: The Dhubri district administration has imposed restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC to enforce COVID-19 protocol in the district to arrest the spread of the coronavirus.

Dhubri district deputy commissioner Deba Kumar Kalita vide an order issued today has promulgated Section 144, making it compulsory to wear face masks by all individuals in public places, the practice of social distancing of at least 2 meters, and frequent usage of sanitizers.

"During the Assam Assembly Polls, the spread of the COVID-19 virus keeping in mind Section 144 CrPC has been imposed in the District of Dhubri," read a part of the notice.

Before Dhubri, Section 144 was clamped in Sivasagar and Hailakandi districts as well.

With the new 245 COVID-19 positive cases recorded yesterday in Assam, the total state tally of active cases now stand at 1,023. Kamrup Metro alone recorded 128 cases yesterday.
