The Guwahati Administration has imposed section 144 CrPC just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit in the state.
As per orders, anyone burning effigies in the city shall be arrested. To prevent unpredictable incidents, police are on high alert to keep an eye on each and everything that has been happening around the city.
Various organizations have been requested by the Director General of Police, Kuladhar Saikia, to maintain peace, and also said that police shall take lawful action against any person who violates it.
Recently, the state has seen several protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 by different organizations. Meanwhile, the All Assam Students’ Union along with 30 other organizations and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti along with 70 other indigenous organizations have announced to stage a state-wide protest on the day of Modi’s visit.
