Senior medical officer arrested for land scam in Kokrajhar

A senior health and medical officer Dr Subrata Mitra was arrested by the Kokrajhar police in connection with land scam at Patharghat in Kokrajhar district. Mitra was a senior health and medical officer at Balajan block health centre under Kokrajhar sub-division. The police arrested Mitra while he was on his way to obtain an anticipatory bail for his alleged involvement in a land scam.

A case has been registered against Mitra in Kokrajhar police station under sections 448/325/384/379/420/506 IPC, R/W section 25(1-A) Arms act. The police also searched the house of Mitra soon after his arrest and recovered some incriminating documents.  

According to sources, Mitra was involved in a land grabbing case at Patharghat area a couple of years ago. Police have started investigation to ascertain facts relating to the case.
