Shaheen Bagh CAA Protesters are Waging War against Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists: Himanta Biswa SarmaHimanta

Guwahati, January 25, 2020:

The Guwahati Crime department has registered a case against Shaheen Bagh protester Sharjeel Imam for his statement that Assam and the Northeastern region should be cut off from India.

Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed about the case, which has been registered by the Guwahati Crime Police. “I have personally seen his Facebook page. I have personally seen his speech. Not only me, our police department also has examined the Facebook pages and clippings. Prima facie, we are satisfied…as of now, we have decided to register a case against Sharjeel Imam,” he said.

Sarma went on to call the Shaheen Bagh protests, which have been going on for over a month now, “war against poor Hindus, Buddhas, Sikhs, Christians”. He said, “We never protest if they are given something special. Like they have a separate civil code. But this time I am strange that some Muslims as a community have waged war against Hindu, Buddha, Sikh, Christians. This is a very interesting development. I think this is the way that these people have communalized the entire situation. So I think this Shaheen Bagh protest is nothing but a war against the poor Hindus, Sikh, Jain, Buddhists.”

The Assam Minister was of the view that the minorities would be forced to convert in Pakistan. "And if we want to give them citizenship in India then also do Shaheen Bagh. That means that these people should be sandwiched between the Muslims in Pakistan and Muslims of Shaheen Bagh. I think that cannot be allowed."

Himanta Biswa Sarma, while addressing a Press in Guwahati, played the speech of Shaheen Bagh protester Sharjeel Imam before informing about the case registered by Assam Police against Imam.
