KOKRAJHAR: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Friday has arrived in Kokrajhar district of Assam through which he headed for Shillong to take part in the All North East Chief Minister’s Meet on Saturday.
The meeting is to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Ministry of Development of North East Region G. Kishan Reddy.
“I am coming to attend the meeting between the Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries and Director General of Police(s) in Shillong today. I would like to thank the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar district who happens to be a Sikkimese, for such a warm welcome.”

Megha Nidhi Dahal, Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, is the first Sikkimese to clear the UPSC exams in general category in 2015. The former software engineer is from Lingmoo Kolthang under Rangang Yangang Constituency in South Sikkim.
The Chief Minister was also received by Wilson Hasda, Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council and Ranjit Basumatari , Executive Member , Prateek Thule, Superintendent of Police, Kokrajhar and Subash Gupta, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Gossaingoan Sub division.
Talking about the Covid Situation in North East India, the chief minister from the Hill state said, “The second wave is more intense compared to the first wave but the situation is under control. The Indian government is cooperating with us immensely to tackle the situation.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will meet with chief ministers, chief secretaries, and DGPs of all the eight Northeastern states to assess the region's law and order as well as the Covid-19 situation. The Home Minister will also inaugurate a cryogenic oxygen plant, visit the Assam Rifles headquarters in Shillong, and attend an event in Guwahati, Assam during his two-day visit on July 24 and 25.
