GUWAHATI: Rajkumar Thakuria, Assamese actor, musician, and producer, has been chosen as brand ambassador for SVEEP activities for the forthcoming assembly elections by the Kamrup district administration.
Ahead of the polls tentatively scheduled in April, the famous actor will request people to vote as part of the Kamrup district administration's initiative to maximize turnout for the polls.
Confirming this development to Inside Northeast, Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Kailash Karthik N said, "Firstly, he is from Kamrup. Secondly, he is popular and he cuts across all age groups so we thought he would be appropriate to encourage both young and old voters to turn out on polling day. We are in talks with a few other people, but he is definitely the most popular and well-known face among the lot."
