GUWAHATI: The entire premises of Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, (LNIPE) Sonapur has been declared as a containment zone for the next 14 days from today after the detection of a COVID-19 positive case.
Kamrup (M) district administration, issuing a release, stated that it has declared the LNIPE in Sonapur as a containment zone "in the interest of the maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus amongst the teaching staff and students."
The release stated that the Sonapur revenue circle officers have been directed to seal the area immediately.

The order also said any unauthorised entry and exit into the notified containment zone is barred for the next seven days.
Any unauthorised person or vehicle movement inside the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect.
The order has been issued under the "Assam COVID-19 Regulations,2020" and will be in force from April 8, 2021 to April 21, 2021.
Any violations of the order will be prosecuted under the "Assam COVID19 Regulations, 2020," "Disaster Management Act, 2005," "The Epidemic Disease Act, 1897," and other applicable national laws.
