Sonowal most suitable to be Assam CM; Gaurav Gogoi 2nd & Himanta 3rd: Times Now survey

Guwahati: With the Assembly elections almost at the doorstep in Assam, the Times Now CVoter tracker has predicted that the NDA will retain power with aa slim margin over it's main rivals the 'mahajot.'

On being asked about their preferred Chief Minister candidate, 46.2% of the respondents chose the incumbent Sarbananda Sonowal, while 25.2℅ went with the Congress's Gaurav Gogoi. Himanta Biswa Sarma (13℅), Badruddin Ajmal (5.7%) and Hagrama Mohilary (3.8%) are the other notable mentions.

The Times Now CVoter opinion poll predicts that the BJP-led NDA will again form the government with 69 seats while the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) is close at its heels with a projected 56 seats.

The projected range of Assembly seats is 65-73 for NDA, 52-60 for the UPA and 0-4 seats for others in Assam.

Meanwhile, a total of 44.4℅ of respondents seemed to agree that each vote for AIUDF is a vote for illegal immigration.

Ona the other hand, a total of 44.6 per cent believed that the BJP's silence on the CAA ahead of polls will increase its winning chances while 25.2 per cent said that the saffron party’s silence on this issue will hurt its prospects.

Meanwhile, 15.8 respondents believed that this will have no impact on the outcome of the Assam Assembly Elections 2021 while 14.4 per cent were unsure.

A whopping 50.9 per cent of the people surveyed said yes asked if the CAA is a threat to Assamese culture. while 31.2 per cent said no.
