According to out reports, the Spanish national came in February to attend a Youth Festival the Gargaon. A cycling enthusiast, the youth had reportedly come from Spain via Manipur and Myanmar. Manuel Aribas Sojikiu, the Sapanish man, was staying at the house of a former student of college, Biswajit Barbarua. However, he became like a permanent resident of the village as the novel coronavirus spread its tentacles across the world.
Barbarua said, "He came here for a tour. But the condition is not good. If he goes outside, people might fear that he has corona. I informed the local authorities. He has been in quarantine from April 14 and there are no problems at all."
Barbarua also said that he left his country 9 months ago and recently came to Assam via Myanmar, and adds that the tourist is facing no problems nor is he facing everyone. "We have given him whatever we eat, he has no problems".

14 days ago, however, the Spanish man was quarantined by the local authorities of Demow due to his extensive travel history. On Monday, his quarantine period came to an end and again he was sent to quarantine.
"I feel very lucky, I feel very grateful all Assamese people I met are beautiful to me. I am very very lucky to find a safe place to see all this situation. Fortunately in Assam, I feel good. I have everything I need, they have offered everything", he said, adding that the situation is very bleak in Spain.
"People are in small flats in cities, which is not the ideal situation to be", he said, hinting that the people in Spain are suffering because they are living clustered in the jam-packed metropolitian hubs.
Later, local circle officer Indica Gogoi met him to discuss the prevailing situation and they talked on a range of issues. The grateful tourist has meanwhile expressed satisfaction at the warm hospitality that he has received in the quaint little village from Assam. Further, he has also praised the efforts of the local administration and "hoped" that the local administration will be able to curb the terror of the COVID-19.
Although the Spanish man has found safe refuge in Assam, many of his country's men and women have not been so lucky. Worldometers.info reports that 14,555 people have died in the Iberian country so far. 146,690 people in the country have been infected so far and the virus continues to wreak havoc across Spain.
